Aroma therapy – which aims at working on that limbic system – is a modern science to contemporary perfumers, but it’s also an ancient art, recognized thousands of years before Christ by the Chinese who declared proverbially that “Every perfume is a medicine.”
OVERVIEW
THE CONCEPT
Elixir is a perfume brand disguised as medicine. The branding takes design principles commonly used in medical packaging. The graphics themselves are abstracted designs representing the four scent families: fresh, floral, oriental, and woody.
Inspiration
Strive for the best
While designing the graphics for the packaging, I went to many different iterations of each design. There was a point in the time where no matter what I was doing I wasn't happy with the results till I thought I should just settle for what I had and move on. But after a deep breath, I chose to take a break instead and come back later to try again because I knew that if I settled I would never be happy with this project. Looking back I'm really glad I chose to push forward because the result came out even better than I expected!
